According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the United States imported 74,699 tons of frozen shrimp in 2024, down 2% from the previous year, and the import value of $608 million, down 1% from the previous year.
The average import price in October reached a new high for the year at $3.88/lb, up 4% from $3.77/lb in October last year.
In the first 10 months of this year, the United States imported 624,372 tons of shrimp products, down 4%, and the import value of $4.9 billion, down 9%.
India remained the largest supplier to the United States in October, with sales of 30,457 tons, up 2% year on year, imports of $239 million, and a market share of 41%. The average price of shrimp in India was $3.75/lb, up 6% year on year.
On the other hand, Ecuadorian shrimp sales have declined, with sales of 14,482 tons in October, down 21% year-on-year, and sales of $110 million, down 19% year-on-year. The average price of shrimp was $3.27/lb, up 3% year on year.
Meanwhile, in October, shrimp sales in Vietnam were up 25 % year-on-year, shrimp sales in Indonesia were up 1 %, shrimp sales in Thailand were down 10 %, and red shrimp sales in Argentina were down 27 %.
